 ผู้เขียนเองนั้นไม่ค่อยได้เข้ามาอ่านภาษาอังกฤษนานมาก ไม่รู้ว่าจะแก้ตัวว่าอย่างไรดี  จะบอกว่างานยุ่งๆเชื่อไหมเนี่ย  จำตอนที่บ้านเรามีการประชุมที่ชะอำได้ไหมครับ

  รัฐบาลไทยได้นำอาหารหวาน  (dessert) อ่านว่า ดิเสิร์ท นะครับ ของทั้ง 10 ประเทศสมาชิกมาพิมพ์ในกระดาษที่เป็นเสื่อที่รองโต๊ะ  ประเทศไทยเราเลือก ข้าวเหนียวมะม่วง(mango with sticky rice)  ลองฟังเสียงดูที่นี่นะครับ

 

Sweet idea

 

Asean leaders will be arriving shortly for their long-awaited summit meeting in Cha-am. One of the topics that is certain to be on the agenda is the goal of making Asean a single community in 2015.

The idea of a Asean community is not widely understood among ordinary people in the region, however, and Asean member countries are being encouraged to prepare their citizens for the change.

The Thai Foreign Ministry has an idea that could easily be copied elsewhere. Just about everyone likes desserts and that is the theme the ministry has adopted for an Asean promotion campaign here in Thailand.

One popular dessert from each of the 10 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations has been selected to be printed on special paper table mats that will be distributed to MK suki restaurants around the country.

The main target is children and MK was picked because it is a widespread chain popular with families, the Foreign Ministry’s Asean Affairs Department director-general Vitavas Srivihok said.

‘‘While they are waiting to be served at the table, they can learn about these desserts from the table,’’ Mr Vitavas said.

One million table mats, which will cost the ministry 300,000 baht, have been distributed to MK branches across the country since last weekend.

The information on the table mats includes the ingredients of the popular desserts and information about Asean and its charter.

Mr Vitavas, said the desserts were chosen after research and cross-checks with Thai embassies in all Asean capitals. Thailand has selected mango with sticky rice as its representative dessert on the table mats.

Promoting desserts and other information about Asean will give people a better understanding that there is a lot in common in Southeast Asian cultures, Mr Vitavas said.
