ภาพเขียนสีแห่งนี้ เป็นแหล่งโบราณคดีที่สำคัญแห่งหนึ่งของภาคอีสาน สำรวจพบครั้งแรกในปี พ.ศ. ๒๕๒๖ บริเวณที่ปรากฏภาพเขียนสีเป็นเพิงผาหินทรายขนาดใหญ่ ตัวภาพอยู่สูงจากพื้นดินประมาณ ๓ - ๔ เมตร จากการศึกษาลักษณะภาพเขียนสีดังกล่าวพบว่า ภาพเขียนสีด้วยสีแดงเพื่อเล่าเรื่องราวกิจกรรม ของมนุษย์สมัยก่อนประวัติศาสตร์ตอนปลายราว ๓,๐๐๐ - ๔,๐๐๐ ปีมาแล้ว ประกอบด้วยไปด้วยภาพมนุษย์ ๓๒ ภาพ แบ่งเป็นผู้ชาย ๒๔ ภาพ ผู้หญิง ๒ ภาพ เด็ก ๑ ภาพ ภาพสัตว์ที่สำคัญคือ ไก่ หรือนก ภาพสัตว์ที่คล้ายเม่น ภาพสัตว์คล้ายเสือและสิงโต ภาพสุนัข ภาพอาวุธ ๑ ภาพ ได้แก่ คันธนูและลูกศร
Rock Painting at Khao Chan-Ngam Cave
The rock painting here are one of the most important archaeological evidence of northeastern Thailand.They were found in 1938.
Its painted on the vast rock cliff, 3-4metres above the ground.
From the study, the paintings were painted red in order to depict the lifestyles and activities of mankind in late pre-historic periods, living around 3,000 to 4,000 years ago.
There are 32 figures, 28 males, 2 females and a child. The animals are chickens or bird, an animal like hedgehogs, tigers, lions and dogs. There is one painting illustrating bows and arrows.
