In Thailand right now...I have learned that palliative care issue is very important that poeple who working in medical-nursing field should know, understading! How to do the best in our limitation with staffs, resources, facillities. But it would be started at YOU!
On last Jan 21, 2011 Our oncology team running our grand round as the same before. We have done as our routine work since 2004 till now. We called a "Palliative care grand round" Mixed together with the subject of holistic care for chronic illness sometimes for the 5th year medical students. But focusing only children with cancer.
We brought 3 cases to our conference, some important isuues that we discussing based on our current practice knowledge, evidence, such as goal setting, advance care plan, communication issue between team and patient and families, symptoms control skill, psychosocial care comfort care, ethical aspect, we learned more from this session about how to improve care under our limited resources, etc,
TO me palliative care is important that we could integrate in our routine work by a good multidisciplinary team as much as we can, also based on patients and families's context.
