 Aim

          To conduct research on the situation of persons lacking legal status and personal documentation in the tsunami-affected provinces of Thailand, with a focus on case study analysis, in order to put forth a strategy for resolving different categories of problems.

Objectives

1.      To conduct research on the issue of legal status and personal documentation, including birth documentation, of Tsunami-affected persons. 2.      To conduct case study analysis and provide guidelines on obtaining legal status and personal documentation, including addressing issues of statelessness and nationality-lessness, as well as relevant human rights violations.  3.      To develop an Action Plan with partners and other experts on how to rectify problems related to legal status and personal documentation in the tsunami-affected areas, including recommendations on law and policy amendments.
