Authorship ใน research papers

- ความกังวลของ reviewers ทั้ง reviewers ที่ journal editors เลือกและ reviewers ที่มหาวิทยาลัยเลือกให้ประเมินตำแหน่งวิชาการ ประการหนึ่งคือ ผู้มีรายชื่อเป็น authors นั้น "เป็น authors จริงหรือไม่" เนื่องจากหลาย papers ไม่ได้ระบุบทบาทของ author แต่ละคนไว้ และเมื่อนำมาใช้ขอตำแหน่งวิชาการ หากต้องมีการระบุบทบาทหน้าที่ของ authors ด้วย กรณีนี้มีหลักประกันอะไรว่าที่ระบุมานั้นถูกต้องตรงตามความเป็นจริง 

- International Committee of Medical Journal Editors ได้กำหนด "Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals" เพื่อให้เป็นข้อพิจารณาทางจริยธรรม (Ethical consideration) สำหรับการเป็น authorship ของ papers ดังนั้น ประเด็นที่ journal editor / reviewers รวมถึงผู้ประเมินการขอตำแหน่งวิชาการในปัจจุบันมักพิจารณาคือ authors ที่แสดงใน list of authors สมควรเป็น author หรือไม่ โดยหลาย journals ให้ระบุบทบาทหน้าที่ของ author แต่ละคนอย่างชัดเจน คนไหนมีบทบาทเพียงเป็น contributor ก็ไม่ควรอยู่ใน list of authors แต่หลาย journals ก็ยังไม่ได้กำหนดเช่นนี้ ดังนั้นผู้ประเมินการขอตำแหน่งวิชาการควรพิจารณาความเป็น authorship ใน papers อย่างไรจึงจะเหมาะสมตามหลักจริยธรรม (และยังเป็นการประเมินจริยธรรมในการวิจัยของผู้ขอตำแหน่งด้วย) ทั้งนี้ the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors ได้เสนอ "Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals" ไว้ดังนี้

:: Authorship credit should be based on 

1) substantial contributions to conception and design, acquisition of data, or analysis and interpretation of data; 

2) drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; and 

3) final approval of the version to be published. 

Authors should meet conditions 1, 2, and 3.
- ทั้งนี้ Acquisition of funding, collection of data, or general supervision of the research group alone does not constitute authorship.

:: Contributors listed in acknowledgments:
- All contributors who do not meet the criteria for authorship should be listed in an acknowledgments section.
