On July 4, 2019, Thai Bioplastics Industry Association (TBIA) invited Prof. Dr. Chira Hongladarom to be the Keynote Speaker on Human Resources Development towards Sustainable Green and Circular Economy at Networking Dinner of InnoBioplast 2019.

The summary of Prof. Dr. Chira Hongladarom’s keynote speech

I am honored to share my views towards sustainable development goals to scientists here.

As an economist, I believe that we have to leave the world to the next generation.

Your group here is very good to protect environment. We need economy for jobs but we must sustain the environment to help the economy survive. The nature does not need human beings. It is right. We need environment to take care of economy. When you go back to companies, empower your people to think about long-term development.

I try to link human capital in such a way meaningful to you. In the future, we can work together. We should not maximize the short-term goals in expense of the long-term goals. Biotechnology is a component of the fourth industrial revolution. The more we progress in economy, we must have human ready for dealing with sustainability.

We must not work alone. I am ready to network you. I have worldwide human capital network. We need to include all stakeholders and community people.

The real success is King Rama IX who looks at poor people.

There are forces like economy. Scientists should fight against Trump’s claim of global warming as fake news.

What you are doing here in fact is the global level. This circular economy looks to sustainable goals. If you succeed, you tend to achieve sustainable goals. You leave the world to the next generation.

Few days ago, there was agreement among ASEAN to eliminate plastic from oil and gas. Your job is important. You make the world livable in the long run.

In the social media, we must educate people to preserve the world. As far as human resource is concerned, we must use King Rama IX’s Sufficiency Economy.

Bio-plastic is a way to protect environment. King Rama IX has good ideas to support us. To succeed in bio-plastic, you need entrepreneurship. You need customers to have performance.

You have done very well to STEM.  You need to have intangible quality in people. Look at people’s happiness. Create passion for people. Have work-life balance. Change mindset. People still believe in economic success in expense of environment.

This association should work on mindset. You need to empower people by working on intangibles like happiness, respect, dignity and sustainability.

You achieve ultimate goals. I try to support you. I want to do research on sustainability. In Thailand, we need to involve stakeholders. Look at community people. Use resource to help education. I am ready to serve this.

Thank you very much.
