ประเด็นข่าว: Google ยอมถอย
มีข่าว รมต.ไอซีทีจัดแถลงข่าวว่าได้รับจดหมายจาก Vice-president ของ Google Inc ซึ่งส่งมาขอโทษและยอมถอดคลิปวิดิโอที่ไม่เหมาะสมออกแล้ว (คนอังกฤษบอกผมว่าตำแหน่ง Vice-president แม้ว่าจะเป็นที่เข้าใจกันโดยทั่วไปว่าหมายถึงอะไร ก็ควรเขียนมี hyphen ซึ่งถ้าไม่มี hyphen อาจแปลได้ว่า president ที่ชั่วร้าย; VP ในโครงสร้างองค์กร หมายถึงรองผู้อำนวยการ(ฝ่าย) แต่ก็มักจะถูกแปลว่ารองประธานซึ่งผิดไปจากความเป็นจริงมาก)
ตามข่าว รมต.แถลงว่าเมื่อถอดคลิปที่ไม่เหมาะสมออกทั้งหมด ก็จะยกเลิกการปิดกั้น YouTube.com
ประเด็นเรื่องนี้คือต้องเล่นในเกมที่ถูกต้อง เมื่อมีการละเมิดกฏหมาย ก็ต้องทำตามกฏหมาย ให้ผ่านกระบวนการยุติธรรม ตุรกีชนะ YouTube ด้วยกรณีแบบนี้เช่นกัน (การละเมิดต่อ มุสตาฟา คามาล อาตาเติร์ก วีระบุรุษของชาติเป็นการละเมิดกฏหมายอาญาในตุรกี) ศาลตุรกีตัดสินให้ปิดกั้น YouTube จนในที่สุด YouTube ยอมถอดคลิปดังกล่าวออก

เกรงว่าเรื่องนี้ลึกลับนักครับ แล้วคงจะไม่ใช่เรื่องขู่ด้วย แต่เป็นการปฏิบัติไปตามครรลองของกฏหมายหรือไม่

YouTube could have followed a precedent when it dealt with a potential lawsuit from Thailand as it had dealt with Turkey before.
YouTube had a bigger fish to fry with copyright infringement - a $1 billion lawsuit from Viacom.
American English tends to use vice president in the sense of a deputy president or veep (slang).
I'd like to think the obvious vice VP is the one who is the deputy of the current POTUS (President Of The United States).

Google to Block Video Clips That Thais Say Insult King - The New York Times
"Google has agreed to block four video clips on its YouTube Web site that the government of Thailand said insulted its king.
But in a letter to the minister of communications, Sitthichai Pookaiyaudom, Google said two other videos that had angered Thailand’s military government would stay on the site, because they did not break laws against offending the monarchy. .... "
The basis of blocking is because the content is against Thai law. Google was criticized when it cooperated with Chinese government to block/censor contents for Chinese web surfers - the majoriy of which could care less. Google defended its decision as "When in Rome, do as the Romans do."
