It sounds similar to "citizen journalism" ? where
"The idea behind citizen journalism is that people without professional journalism training can use the tools of modern technology and the global distribution of the Internet to create, augment or fact-check media on their own or in collaboration with others. For example, you might write about a city council meeting on your blog or in an online forum. Or you could fact-check a newspaper article from the mainstream media and point out factual errors or bias on your blog. Or you might snap a digital photo of a newsworthy event happening in your town and post it online. Or you might videotape a similar event and post it on a site such as YouTube."
I don't want to see good ideas, facts, or information to not get expressed because of language barrier.
In other words, there will always be some interpretation and translation and they are subject to misinterpretation and mistranslation. But that's where good journalism and professional editors should come in, or a peer review.
The idea of self-sufficient economy is not new, it can be found in economic text book/reading i.e. the United States' economy might be more self-sufficient if it didn't have to heavily dependent upon oil production in the Middle East, or cheaper labor in China.
But what does it tell us? Thailand's IT industry might be more self-sufficient if it didn't have to depend on R&D in Redmond ?
It does not always linked to "localism" as defined in wikipedia - but then again anyone who can write, can be a wiki author - What shows up in wikipedia didn't mean it is credible i.e.
"The question of Wikipedia credibility has been raised by a number of sources. A September 8, 2004 Washington Post article included the following:
Self-sufficient economy concept has been politicized (big time) in TH. Anything for or against it - can be easily taken out of context. There some good of localism and globalism, the challenge is to balance both - I know it's easier said than done!
